Terms of Service

Axis CNC Routered Innovations Ltd

Last Updated: 3 August 2026

1. Scope of Services and Engagement

1.1 Axis CNC Routered Innovations Ltd (“Axis”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) provides CNC services including router cutting, laser cutting, engraving, etching, knife cutting, as well as fabrication, prototyping, and related manufacturing services as agreed with the client. Our services are tailored to custom manufacturing, prototyping, and production runs.
1.2 By requesting a quote, submitting specifications, issuing a purchase order, approving a quote, instructing us to commence work, or otherwise engaging our services (“Engagement”), you (“Client”, “Customer”, “you”, or “your”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These Terms of Service are available on our website at axiscnc.co.nz The web version is the governing version.
1.3 Each time you request a quote, submit design files, or place an order with Axis, you agree to be bound by the specific provisions of these Terms governing file handling, security, and intellectual property (Section 5). For all other purposes, the full Terms of Service in effect at the time of order confirmation will govern the engagement and all associated manufacturing.
1.4 If you engage Axis on behalf of an organisation, company, government department, agency, or other entity, you represent and warrant that:

(a) you have full legal authority to bind that entity to these Terms of Service and to the Engagement; and
(b) the entity you represent agrees to be bound by these Terms as if it had engaged Axis directly.

1.5 Axis is entitled to rely on your representation of authority. Where Axis has commenced work, incurred costs, ordered materials, or allocated production time in reliance on your Engagement, Axis is entitled to charge for work performed and costs incurred, even if your organisation later withdraws approval, fails to issue internal authorisation, or otherwise disputes your authority.

2. Quotations & Pricing

2.1. All quotations are valid for 30 calendar days unless otherwise stated.
2.2. Pricing is based on the information provided at the time of quoting. Any modifications to the design, material, or quantity may result in revised pricing.
2.3. Quotes are prepared on the basis that the Client supplies complete and accurate artwork or files in an approved format, as specified in section 5. Where compliant files are not provided, Axis may, at its discretion, decline to quote or issue a provisional quote that includes allowances for additional labour, setup, interpretation, rework, or other unforeseen costs arising from incomplete or non-compliant information.
2.4. Unless otherwise stated, quotes for Clients outside the Napier/Hastings regions include standard shipping. Quotes for Napier/Hastings–based Clients exclude shipping, as collection is assumed. Additional charges may apply where delivery is required within Napier/Hastings or where delivery details are changed or incomplete.
2.5. Axis reserves the right to adjust pricing where material costs change beyond Axis’s control, where materials are no longer available, or where the original quote was based on incorrect or incomplete information provided by the Client. Where materials can still be sourced at the same cost used to prepare the quote, the quoted price will apply. Where materials cannot be sourced, or suitable alternatives are not available at a comparable cost, Axis may decline the work or issue a revised quotation based on current pricing.
2.6. Standard quotes are based on a three-week production timeframe. If the Client requires production to be completed sooner, they must notify Axis at the time the quote is requested. Axis will then provide an appropriate price. If such notice is not given and expedited production is later requested, an additional surcharge of up to 20% will apply.
2.7. In addition to any applicable urgent fee outlined in clause 2.6, jobs requested to commence production on the same business day will incur a $200 +gst surcharge, and jobs requested to commence production on the following business day will incur a $100 +gst surcharge.

2.7.1 These charges are commencement fees to secure immediate priority scheduling (queue-jumping) and do not guarantee same-day or next-day job completion. Actual production and processing times vary depending on job complexity, material requirements, and multi-day manufacturing steps. Axis will provide an estimated completion timeline upon commencement.

2.7.2 If the priority surcharge is paid but Axis fails to commence work on the agreed day due to its own operational constraints, the surcharge will be fully refunded as a store credit (or account credit for on-account Clients). This refund does not apply if commencement is delayed due to Client-supplied file errors, late approvals, or material supply issues beyond Axis's control.

2.8. Samples of custom work are charged at our full standard rate, but we may credit up to 50% of the charge if the batch proceeds under the following terms:

2.8.1 You must hold an active account with us, and your account must have a clean payment history.
2.8.2 The batch and sample must be discussed and agreed with us beforehand.
2.8.3 The batch order must proceed within 28 calendar days of sample completion, using the same design.
2.8.4 The sample cost will be credited to your account, and the total batch quantity will be reduced by one to reflect the sample you already have.
2.8.5 If the design changes in any way, or if the order does not proceed within 28 days, no credit will apply.
2.8.6 All sample credits are issued at our discretion.

2.9. All quotations are to indicate the pricing only and do not constitute a binding offer. No contract is formed until Axis confirms acceptance of the order in writing or commences production of the work. Axis reserves the right to withdraw or amend any quotation prior to acceptance of an order.
2.10 An automated order acknowledgement, payment receipt, or other automated communication confirms only that we have received your order. It does not constitute acceptance of the order. A contract is formed only when Axis expressly accepts the order in writing or dispatches the product, whichever occurs first.
2.11 Prices, discounts, product information, stock availability, taxes, and other charges displayed on our website may occasionally be incorrect because of genuine typographical, software, data-entry, integration, or system-configuration errors.
2.12 If we identify a genuine pricing, product-information, or shipping error before dispatch, collection, download, or commencement of production, we may:

(a) notify you of the error and invite you to proceed at the corrected price; or
(b) cancel the affected order and promptly issue a full refund of all amounts paid for it.

2.12.1 We will not charge the corrected price unless you expressly agree to it.
2.13 Nothing in this clause limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.

3. Orders & Payment

3.1. Orders must be confirmed in writing or via an official purchase order.
3.2. A deposit may be required before production commences.
3.3. Payment terms will be outlined in the invoice. Late payments may incur interest or additional fees.
3.4. Axis retains ownership of all produced goods (including digital goods) until full payment is received.
3.5. Where any refund, reimbursement, or payout is due to a Client under these Terms, such amounts will be issued solely as a store credit (or account credit for on-account Clients). Cash or bank refunds will not be issued, except where required by law (such as under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 for non-business consumers experiencing a major failure) or at Axis’s sole discretion. Custom-made or cut-to-size items are strictly non-refundable and non-exchangeable unless a remedy is required under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

4. Materials & Tolerances

4.1. Customers must specify material requirements before production begins. If no specifications are provided, Axis will use standard materials at our discretion.
4.2. Machining tolerances will be ±1.0mm for general cutting unless requested otherwise. However, for precision CNC machining, we typically achieve ±0.2mm.
4.3. Natural variations in material properties may affect final dimensions, surface finish, and overall appearance.
4.4. Material thicknesses are nominal.
4.5. We are happy to cut customer-supplied materials as part of our services. However, please be aware of the following terms:

4.5.1 We may charge for storage of uncollected offcuts from 28 days after completion of the job.
4.5.2 After 28 days, we reserve the right to charge up to $10 +gst per m² or part thereof per business day for storage of any uncollected materials unless agreed in writing.
4.5.3 If your materials or completed jobs are not collected within 90 days, we will send you a final 14-day notice. If they still aren't collected, we will assume they are abandoned and may sell, recycle, or dispose of them in accordance with the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. Abandoning or disposing of the materials does not cancel your bill—you are still fully responsible for paying for the completed work, plus any storage and disposal fees. If we manage to sell your abandoned items, we will apply that money (minus our storage and selling costs) to reduce your unpaid bill, and you must pay any remaining balance.

4.6. Router-cut internal 90° corners will naturally feature a small radius (~1.5mm - 5mm) matching the tool bit diameter. Sharp internal square corners are not possible via standard routing unless corner relief features (e.g., dog-bones) are requested. Laser cutting produces a much smaller kerf with minimal corner radii.

5. Design Files, CAD Compatibility & Intellectual Property

5.1. Customers are responsible for ensuring that provided designs are accurate, complete, and free of errors.
5.2. Axis is not liable for defects resulting from incorrect or incomplete design files.
5.3. By submitting design files, you confirm that you have the legal right to manufacture the design. Axis is not responsible for any intellectual property disputes arising from customer-provided files.
5.4. Customers must ensure that submitted CAD files are in a compatible format. Axis is not responsible for discrepancies arising from differences between CAD software versions, file conversions, or translation errors. Accepted formats: .ai, .cdr, .dwg, .dxf, .eps, .pdf, .svg. Compressed folders are also accepted.
5.5. For cybersecurity reasons, Axis does not accept file submissions via third-party download links (including Dropbox, SharePoint, or OneDrive) unless arranged in writing beforehand. Any unauthorized links received will be blocked or deleted. While we will make reasonable efforts to notify you if your files have been rejected, it remains your responsibility to ensure files are submitted in one of our accepted formats (listed in clause 5.4) to avoid production delays.
5.6. Any required modifications to align with our production capabilities may incur additional costs and affect lead times.
5.7. When Axis produces drawings, CAD files, or artwork for a client, the following terms apply:

5.7.1 The Client must notify Axis in writing of any applicable legal, regulatory, or council requirements that may affect the design or manufacturing process prior to Axis commencing any drawings. Axis will not be responsible for delays, redesigns, or non-compliance arising from the Client’s failure to provide such information in advance.
5.7.2 All drawings, CAD files, and artwork created by Axis remain the sole property of Axis unless a written transfer of ownership is agreed upon prior to commencement of work.
5.7.3 All drawings, CAD files, and designs produced by Axis are supplied on the condition of exclusive manufacturing with Axis. If you, or anyone acting on your behalf, use, adapt, or replicate these designs to manufacture goods with another supplier, this constitutes a breach of exclusivity. To compensate Axis for both the design labor and the resulting loss of manufacturing opportunity, you agree to pay an Opportunity Recovery Fee calculated at a flat rate of $250 +gst per hour for the total time Axis spent preparing and designing the files, unless a different rate or file-release arrangement was explicitly agreed in writing beforehand. Payment of this fee does not transfer the underlying intellectual property or master file ownership to you unless explicitly agreed in writing.
5.7.4 Customers are solely responsible for reviewing and confirming the accuracy, completeness, and suitability of any drawings produced by Axis. Axis accepts no liability for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies once drawings have been approved by the customer.
5.7.5 Drawings provided by Axis are supplied exclusively for the purpose of manufacturing with Axis unless otherwise agreed in writing.
5.7.6 Any requested amendments or revisions to Axis-produced drawings may incur additional charges and may affect project lead times.
5.7.7 Axis accepts no liability if drawings produced by Axis are rejected, delayed, or deemed non-compliant by any council, regulatory body, or other authority. Responsibility for ensuring drawings meet all applicable legal, safety, and regulatory requirements rests solely with the Client.

5.8. Axis may retain client-supplied files, production files, and internally generated drawings indefinitely for operational, archival, quality assurance, and record-keeping purposes. All retained files will continue to be treated as confidential in accordance with section 6. Axis makes no guarantee that retained files will remain compatible with future software versions or manufacturing processes, and retrieval or reuse of archived files may incur additional charges.

6. File Confidentiality & Marketing Usage

6.1. Axis will maintain the confidentiality of all customer files and will not disclose them to third parties without prior consent, unless required by law.
6.2. Axis is granted permission to use comments, photos, and video snippets of items for marketing purposes, unless the customer expressly requests otherwise.
6.3. While we implement reasonable precautions to avoid posting identifiable features of customer projects, we cannot always guarantee that such features will not be visible. If you prefer not to have anything posted about a specific job, please let us know, and we will respect your request.
6.4. While we implement reasonable precautions, we cannot control the visibility of customer projects to others visiting our facility.
6.5. Axis is willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) upon request to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information.

7. Production & Lead Times

7.1. Standard production lead times are as outlined in section 2 and are based on non-urgent work. Where the Client requests accelerated or priority production, such requests will be treated as urgent jobs and may attract additional fees and surcharges in accordance with section 2.
7.2. Rush work may be available for an additional fee, depending on our production capacity. Refer to Sections 2.6 and 2.7 for full details of how rush fees are applied.
7.3. We’re happy to work to deadlines provided they allow sufficient production time. Rush fees apply for short notice as per section 2.
7.4. As a general guide, standard jobs typically require 5–7 business days. Larger or more complex jobs generally require around 15 business days. Work involving outside contractors may take longer than these estimates. Project-based work is excluded from these general timeframes. A “project” refers to any job where the client has not supplied ready-to-cut drawings and we are required to carry out additional work such as measuring, drawing, design preparation, file creation, researching specifications, or interpreting incomplete information. These jobs involve non-production tasks and therefore do not fall under standard lead-time guidelines.
7.5. Where the Customer requests production or delivery within a timeframe shorter than Axis's standard lead time, the Customer acknowledges that normal manufacturing, curing, testing, inspection, finishing, or quality assurance processes may be reduced or omitted where reasonably necessary to achieve the requested delivery date. Axis will continue to exercise reasonable care and skill in performing the work. However, Axis is not responsible for defects, reduced performance, cosmetic imperfections, or reduced service life that result directly from the accelerated production schedule requested by the Customer. This clause does not limit any rights that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand law

8. Shipping & Delivery

8.1. Customers may arrange their own pickup or request shipping services.
8.2. Shipping costs are included in our quotes for customers that live outside of Napier/Hastings area. Local customers may arrange pickup or request a separate shipping quote. If you do not specify your delivery location, we will assume you are Hawke's Bay-based and that local collection applies.
8.3. Axis is not responsible for shipping delays caused by third-party carriers.
8.4. Customers are responsible for checking freighted items for damage as soon as practical after the freight arrives.
8.5. Any claims for freight damage or missing parts must be reported to Axis within 24 hours of delivery, in order to comply with carrier requirements. Your report must include clear images showing how the damage occurred, such as photos of the package before it is opened, visible forklift marks, or other relevant evidence.
8.6. If parts are missing and our records confirm the claim, we will supply replacements as soon as reasonably practical, at no cost to you. If our records show the parts were correctly dispatched, we may still offer replacements; however, a small charge may apply to cover costs and freight.
8.7. All pickup orders must be collected within six months of completion. After this period, Axis reserves the right to dispose of the items in accordance with the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. Payment remains fully payable regardless of whether the items are collected or disposed of.
8.8. Free shipping promotions apply to standard shipping services only and exclude rural delivery, remote or extended delivery zones, and any destination that attracts additional carrier surcharges. Where such costs apply, Axis may, at its discretion, contribute to the shipping cost and charge the remaining balance to the Client.
8.9. Freight charges displayed on the website are subject to system configuration and setup. Errors may occur, including missing or incorrect shipping charges. Any such error will be handled in accordance with clause 2.12

9. Quality Control & Warranty

9.1. All parts are inspected before delivery to ensure they meet agreed-upon specifications. Clients must inspect all items upon delivery or collection.
9.2. Cosmetic issues or minor imperfections must be reported within 7 days of delivery or collection. Claims reported outside this period may not be accepted.
9.3. Subject to any rights the Client may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, any item found to be defective due to Axis workmanship or supplied materials within the warranty period will, at Axis’s discretion, be repaired, remade, replaced, or refunded. This applies regardless of the reporting timeframes specified in Section 8 for freight damage.
9.4. We do not offer warranties on customer-supplied materials.
9.5. For contract-cutting services (custom parts, not purchased through our website), parts are supplied in a semi-finished state. This may require additional value-add work by the customer such as, but not limited to: cleaning, sanding, laminating, assembly, or similar finishing tasks.

9.5.1 If you require Axis to carry out any of these additional tasks, you must inform us before we quote. Expectations around finished state should be clearly communicated up front to avoid misunderstandings, delays, or additional costs.
9.5.2 Cut to Size & Custom Manufactured Products: Products manufactured or cut to your custom dimensions and specifications (including, but not limited to, items ordered through our Cut to Size Panels calculator) are custom-made products. Because these items are tailored to your unique specifications, orders cannot be cancelled, returned, or exchanged for a refund or store credit due to a change of mind or customer ordering error once production or material preparation has commenced.
9.5.3 Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA): Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If a custom-cut panel is defective, damaged, non-compliant with agreed specifications, or not fit for purpose due to our fault, we will happily repair, replace, or remedy the item in accordance with your statutory rights.

9.6. Our retail items (those purchased through our web store) are in a finished state and only require minimal work from our customer such as installation.
9.7. All goods supplied by Axis include a 12-month warranty from the date of shipment.
9.8. This warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials supplied by Axis only.
9.9. Subject to any rights the Client may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, where a valid warranty claim is accepted, Axis will, at its sole discretion, either repair, remake, replace, or issue a store credit (or account credit for on-account Clients) for the defective item. This is the client’s sole remedy under warranty.
9.10. Unless otherwise required by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the client is responsible for all costs associated with returning goods to Axis for assessment. If a fault is confirmed and the claim is accepted, Axis will cover the cost of return freight to the client.
9.11. All warranty claims must be submitted in writing with:

(a) Proof of purchase
(b) Description of the issue
(c ) Supporting photos where applicable

Axis may require the item to be returned for inspection before approving any claim.
9.12. This warranty does not cover:

(a) Improper installation
(b) Misuse, neglect, or abuse
(c ) Accidental damage
(d) Normal wear and tear
(e) Damage caused by external factors
(f) Any modifications or alterations not carried out by Axis
(g) Failure to carry out reasonable or recommended maintenance.

9.13. Warranty is limited strictly to the repair, replacement, or refund of the defective item. Axis is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or additional costs, including installation, removal, or third-party expenses.
9.14. Where work has been completed under an expedited production schedule, this warranty does not extend to issues arising solely from the manufacturing limitations disclosed under Section 7.5
9.15. Where materials, products, substrate sheets, or components supplied or used by Axis carry an express warranty from the original manufacturer or supplier (for example, extended manufacturer warranties on Aluminium Composite Material (ACM), coatings, or specialized substrates):

(a) Pass-Through Warranty: To the extent permitted by law and the manufacturer's terms, Axis passes through the benefits of any such manufacturer or supplier warranty to the Client.
(b) Manufacturer Terms Apply: Any extended manufacturer warranty is subject strictly to the manufacturer's specific terms, conditions, exclusions, limitations, installation requirements, and recommended maintenance guidelines.
(c) Axis Role & Support: Axis will make reasonable efforts to assist the Client in submitting or facilitating valid warranty claims with the relevant manufacturer. However, Axis does not independently warrant third-party materials beyond the scope, duration, or performance guaranteed by the manufacturer, nor does Axis accept liability if a manufacturer rejects a warranty claim due to factors outside Axis’s direct control.
(d) Workmanship vs. Material: Axis’s standard 12-month warranty continues to apply to the quality of Axis’s machining, fabrication, and workmanship, while the manufacturer's warranty governs the underlying material durability.

10. Cancellations & Returns

10.1. Orders may be canceled before production begins, subject to any incurred costs.
10.2. Custom-manufactured items are non-refundable. Subject to any rights the Client may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, if a product is found to be defective or fails to perform as reasonably expected, Axis may, at its discretion, repair, remake, or replace the item. Axis is not obliged to provide a refund except where required by law. Where a refund is required by law or agreed to by Axis, it will be issued as a store credit (or account credit for on-account Clients). All items are expected to remain functional for a reasonable period when used and maintained as intended.
10.3. Once production has begun, all incurred costs and any cancellation-related costs will be charged to the client.
10.4. On cancellation, any partially completed items will be invoiced and shipped to the client (including shipping costs), unless the client notifies us in writing that they do not want the item returned. Client is liable for any completed or partially completed works and agrees to pay all costs incurred.
10.5. Returns or refunds will not be granted due to client design errors or changes after production has started.
10.6. Any returns of unused full sheets are at our discretion, and are subject to an 8% re-stock fee.

11. Website Content & Representation

11.1. All colours, sizes, images, and representations shown on the Axis website are indicative only. Variations may occur due to screen settings, lighting conditions, or other factors outside of Axis’s control.
11.2. All stated dimensions are nominal and may vary slightly in practice (e.g., a listed size of 2220 mm may measure 2223 mm in reality).
11.3. Customers should exercise their own discretion when relying on website information and are responsible for confirming that products and specifications meet their requirements prior to placing an order.
11.4. Axis accepts no liability for discrepancies between website representations and the final product.
11.5. All website content, including product details, specifications, and pricing, is subject to change without prior notice.
11.6. Website pricing and freight information may be affected by system or configuration errors. Clause 8.9 applies.

12. Limitation of Liability

12.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, these limitations apply to all products, services, drawings, CAD files, artwork, designs, and any other deliverables provided by Axis.
12.2. Axis is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or delays) resulting from the use of our products or services.
12.3. Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the specific order in question.
12.4. Without limiting clause 5.7, Axis accepts no liability if any drawings, CAD files, or artwork produced by Axis are rejected, delayed, or deemed non-compliant by councils, regulatory bodies, or other authorities. Responsibility for compliance with all applicable requirements rests solely with the Client.
12.5. Axis will not be liable for delays, errors, or additional costs resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, or late information, specifications, or approvals provided by the Client, nor for delays or failures caused by events beyond Axis’s reasonable control (including supply shortages, equipment failure, or force majeure events).

13. Compliance with Legal Rights

13.1. Nothing in these Terms of Service is intended to override or limit any rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws, including but not limited to the Consumer Guarantees Act.
13.2 Where the Client acquires Goods or Services for the purposes of a business, the parties agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and sections 9 and 13 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 do not apply, and that it is fair and reasonable to exclude these provisions.

14. Amendments

14.1. Axis reserves the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page of our website https://axiscnc.co.nz/terms-of-service/
14.2. Updated terms are effective immediately upon posting.
14.3. The terms in effect at the time you request a quote or place your order (whichever occurs last), are the terms that apply to your job and any associated work, including materials, drawings, or designs produced in connection with that job.”
