The information below provides general care and maintenance guidelines for products manufactured or supplied by Axis. Every product is different, and many products are made from a combination of materials. Please read all sections that apply to the materials used in your product.
These are general recommendations only. Products installed in harsh environments (coastal, industrial, high UV, or high-traffic areas) may require more frequent inspection and maintenance.
Products incorporating protective finishes (including paint, powder coating, galvanising, anodising and clear coatings) should have any chips, scratches or damage repaired promptly to help prevent further deterioration.

General Notes
Always use a clean, soft, lint free cloth for cleaning.
Brushed finishes require wiping in the same direction as the grain
Polished finishes may require polishing with a suitable polishing compound from time to time eg brasso or autosol for metals.
Acrylic & Polycarbonate
Indoor
Clean every 6-12 months using a soft, clean cloth with warm water and a mild detergent.
Inspect annually for scratches, cracks or loose fixings.
Outdoor
Clean every 3-6 months.
Inspect every 6 months for cracks, loose fixings, crazing and UV damage.
Remove dirt and salt build-up promptly.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents.
Aluminium & Aluminium Composite (ACM)
Indoor
Clean every 12 months.
Inspect fixings annually.
Outdoor
Wash every 3-6 months (every 2-3 months in coastal or industrial areas).
Visually inspect every 6 months.
Check fixings, sealants and coatings.
Remove salt, dirt and environmental contaminants.
Brushed finishes require wiping in the same direction as the grain
Brass & Copper
Indoor
Clean every 6-12 months depending on the desired finish.
Polish if maintaining a bright finish.
Outdoor
Inspect every 6 months.
Natural patina is expected.
If maintaining a polished finish, clean and protect every 3-6 months.
Optional - Coat with an exterior grade clear lacquer to maintain it's shine outdoors.
Corten Steel
Outdoor
Inspect every 6 months.
Ensure drainage paths remain clear.
Avoid areas where water can pond or remain trapped.
The protective patina develops naturally over time and is an expected characteristic of the material.
Temporary staining of adjacent surfaces during the weathering process is normal.
Indoor
Generally not recommended unless the weathering process has been completed and the surface has been sealed.
Engineering Plastics
(Acetal, Delrin, Nylon, HDPE, UHMWPE and similar.)
Indoor
Inspect every 12 months.
Clean as required.
Outdoor
Inspect every 6 months.
Check for wear, UV degradation (where applicable), cracking and movement.
Replace worn components before failure occurs.
Engravers Laminate
Indoor
Clean every 6-12 months.
Inspect engraved surfaces annually.
Outdoor
Clean every 3-6 months.
Inspect every 6 months for fading, lifting or physical damage.
Foam Products (Foam PVC, PE, EVA and Similar)
Indoor
Inspect every 12 months.
Clean as required.
Outdoor
Inspect every 6 months.
Check for UV degradation, physical damage and loose fixings.
Clean every 3-6 months.
Galvanised Steel
Indoor
Inspect every 12 months.
Outdoor
Inspect every 6 months.
Wash every 6–12 months (3–6 months in coastal or industrial environments).
Check for damage to the galvanised coating.
Repair exposed steel where required.
LED Signage & Illuminated Products
Indoor
Visually inspect every 12 months.
Check for flickering LEDs, damage or loose wiring.
Outdoor
Visually inspect every 6 months.
Check that drainage paths remain clear.
Remove leaves, insects and debris.
Check for condensation or standing water.
Inspect after severe weather or impact.
Report partial failures promptly to minimise further damage.
Powder Coated Finishes
Indoor
Clean every 6–12 months using a soft, clean cloth and a mild detergent.
Visually inspect annually for chips, scratches or coating damage.
Outdoor
Clean every 3–6 months (2–3 months in coastal or industrial environments).
Visually inspect every 6 months.
Remove salt, dirt, bird droppings and other contaminants promptly.
Repair damaged coatings as soon as practical.
Note: Damage to the powder coated finish may expose the base material to corrosion and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Stainless Steel
Indoor
Clean every 6-12 months.
Inspect annually.
Outdoor
Wash every 3-6 months (every 2-3 months in coastal environments).
Inspect every 6 months.
Remove tea staining, salt and contaminants promptly.
Never use steel wool or carbon steel brushes.
Timber & MDF
Indoor
Inspect every 12 months.
Clean as required with a damp cloth.
Repair damaged paint or clear finishes promptly.
Outdoor (Timber only - MDF is not suitable for exterior use)
Inspect every 6 months.
Recoat paint, stain or clear finishes as required.
Check for moisture damage, cracking and coating failure.
Prevent standing water where possible.
