V-grooving prepares Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) so it can be folded accurately along a straight line. From simple box folds to dramatic three-dimensional forms, it opens up a wide range of fabrication possibilities. Got a folded ACM project in mind? ACM consists of a polyethylene (PE) core between two thin aluminium layers.

Using a specially shaped tool and CNC machine, we remove the inside aluminium layer and PE core along the fold line. The outer aluminium face remains intact, allowing the panel to bend easily without being cut apart.

V-grooving can produce virtually any folding angle along a straight line—from shallow bends and 90-degree corners to a complete 180-degree fold with 2 side by side grooves.
